The Somme - July 1916
My great uncle Bernard was among the many who died on The Somme in July 1916. From the CWGC website I discovered he was buried in Caterpillar Valley war cemetary near Longueval. At the end of May 2005 we visited his war grave. It is probable that I am the first member of the family to have visited his grave. To commemorate this 90th anniversary (in 2006) of the battle, here is a small version of the video I put together a year ago in tribute to his memory. See 'Somme Grave' in the Video section (7.23MB).

In fact, the washing had only just been loaded and wasn't really ready for emptying. But that sort of minor detail doesn't deter this young lady.See 'Pollywash' in the Video section. (3.48MB)

Germany Tour, May 2004
This was the tour where we set out to visit practically every town and village in Germany, or so it seemed. In the end though, we settled for longer stays in Berlin:
Dresden:
and Eltville
and then made some shorter visits to: Luebeck, Hamburg, Spreewald, Goerlitz, Gotha, Heidelburg, Jugenheim and Bonn.
